The latest review from reader Julie Burdett, just might be my favorite so far. Julie writes: “A poignant and heart felt story about a boy surviving a horrible attack and coming through it with the help and love of new neighbors and friends. The chronicles of a summer of finding friendship, love and the confidence to be yourself in a world that sometimes is not so kind. The characters will fill your heart with nearly every emotion. I hope there is more on the horizon by this gifted writer!!” Thank you! I am honored.

It’s amazing and very gratifying how friends that you have not seen in years come forward to tell you that they loved your book. What a great feeling!
“I am so glad I got this book. I had the pleasure of working with Mr. McAdoo several years ago. He was a smart and remarkable man who could do anything and this book proves he has many talents.
He tells the story of a young man living a not so wonderful life.. His life takes a bad turn when he is badly beaten while minding his own business. His feelings of worthlessness shows throughout the story until a new family moves in next to his home and shows him through their kindness that he isn’t worthless at all, that there are people who do care about others.
He sees that the detective assigned to his case doesn’t let up in finding the culprits who beat him, the social worker assigned to help him with the emotional trauma and helps him get to his various appointments and the family next door who, without hesitation, take him into their family and treats him like one of their own. With the help of these strangers, they help him realize that he isn’t worthless, that he does have the potential to be a great young man and has talents of his own.
As you read this story, you will see that with the help of these strangers, he has the courage to take charge of his life and finds the ways to help heal the wounds he has had throughout his life. You will go through different emotions as you read this book. I know I did.”
