The Latest Five Star Review

Image

The latest review from reader Julie Burdett, just might be my favorite so far.  Julie writes: “A poignant and heart felt story about a boy surviving a horrible attack and coming through it with the help and love of new neighbors and friends. The chronicles of a summer of finding friendship, love and the confidence to be yourself in a world that sometimes is not so kind. The characters will fill your heart with nearly every emotion. I hope there is more on the horizon by this gifted writer!!”  Thank you! I am honored.

It Begins With Characters

A few people have asked me who my favorite character is.  All of them are so near and dear to me.  It’s like talking about your family on the first date.  I’m  hesitant to say.  My favorite character is actually Tommy, for many reasons.  First of all, he is the comic relief.  He breaks the tension.  Secondly, he is the pivotal character that represents a turning point in the story.  Although it’s not explicit, in the back of your mind you just know that when Tommy arrives on the scene that, somehow, everything just might be okay.  I also love how Tommy just shows up, out of nowhere and he is weird and quirky and talented and very charismatic.  So, yeah, Tommy is my favorite character.  He was the one character that was unexpected, even to me.  Now, can you name the major character in this book who does not have a name?  In fact, the only one.
